Hintzpiration: Artistry at the Alumni Center to Showcase the Art of the Idea
While you’re enjoying this year’s Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, be sure to take advantage of activities and amenities being offered by the Penn State Alumni Association.
“Hintzpiration, Artistry at the Alumni Center,” presented in collaboration with the College of Arts & Architecture and the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, will return to the Hintz Family Alumni Center on July 11–12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s event, “From Field to Canvas: The Art of the Idea,” showcases work of Tom Mosser ‘82, a celebrated visual artist with deep ties to Penn State. Mosser’s “At the Museum” painting series has become one of the most shared art series on the Internet.
On Friday, Mosser will create a painting live at the Hintz Family Alumni Center. He will demonstrate his distinctive technique, which includes painting with sports equipment like footballs and tennis balls to create dynamic textures and patterns.
Hintzpiration also will showcase work by current Penn State students as well as vintage Arts Festival posters designed by Penn State Distinguished Professor Emeritus Lanny Sommese, who left an indelible legacy at Penn State and whose posters became a defining element of the Arts Fest.
Arts Festival visitors will also appreciate the hospitality tent operated by the Centre County chapter of the Alumni Association along the festival route. Visitors will have the opportunity to store art purchases at the tent while continue to enjoy the festival.
Visit the official Hintzpiration website for full details about the Alumni Association’s Arts Fest activities.
