Penn State Alumni Association – Hintzpiration: Artistry at the Alumni Center

Hintzpiration

For many Penn Staters, the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts held in July is a compelling reason to visit State College. If you plan to attend the Arts Festival this year, be sure to take advantage of activities and amenities being offered by the Alumni Association.

The Hintz Family Alumni Center will be the site of “Hintzpiration: Artistry at the Alumni Center,” an art exhibit happening July 12–13, 2024 showcasing world renowned graphic designer and Penn State Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Lanny Sommese, and the legacy he left on campus, community, the Arts Festival, and beyond.

The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, will showcase Sommese’s vast portfolio, including collectable posters from previous Arts Festivals and other personal works, some of which are included in the Library of Congress National Poster Collection.

The “Hintzpiration: Artistry at the Alumni Center” exhibit is a collaborative effort between the College of Arts and Architecture, the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, and the Penn State Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association also will host an exclusive members-only reception at the Alumni Center on the evening of Friday, July 12.  THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

Arts Festival visitors will also appreciate the hospitality tent operated by the Centre County chapter of the Alumni Association along the festival route. Visitors will have the opportunity to store art purchases at the tent while they shop, and can enjoy complementary water stations to hydrate during their time at the festival. The chapter will be offering special Alumni Association Arts Festival T-shirts for sale throughout the event, with proceeds benefiting the chapter’s fundraising for scholarships and support of THON.

Be sure to visit the official Hintzpiration website for additional details about the installation and exhibit, along with the Alumni Association’s activities as the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts nears.
