General Festival Information

Brief Overview

CPFA is an independent, nonprofit corporation that functions as a cooperative town-and-gown venture. The Festival has grown to encompass Children & Youth Day, a juried gallery exhibition, our Italian Street Painting Festival, and a wide variety of performances on outdoor and indoor stages. Approximately 125,000 people visit the Festival each year. The mission of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is to celebrate the arts with presentations of diverse, high-quality visual and performing arts through the cooperative volunteer support of the community and The Pennsylvania State University. The essence of this organization is the enrichment and education of the audience, grounded in personal interaction between artist and audience.

2020 Festival Materials

Brief Description

The 2020 Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts took place virtually this year from July 9-12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As many traditional events as possible we reinvented as virtual experiences on the Festival’s website.  They included live streaming music performances, a virtual Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition, Images 2020, and special projects for young artists.

For the last twenty-five years, the Festival has produced First Night State College on December 31.  This year, in its place, the Festival is producing A December to Remember, an online celebration of art and music.  It features over 200 artists in an online artists market, live and on-demand performances, short instructional videos on cooking and craft cocktails, and more.
