General Festival Information

Brief Overview

CPFA is an independent, nonprofit corporation that functions as a cooperative town-and-gown venture. The Festival has grown to encompass Children & Youth Day, a juried gallery exhibition, our Italian Street Painting Festival, and a wide variety of performances on outdoor and indoor stages. Approximately 125,000 people visit the Festival each year. The mission of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is to celebrate the arts with presentations of diverse, high-quality visual and performing arts through the cooperative volunteer support of the community and The Pennsylvania State University. The essence of this organization is the enrichment and education of the audience, grounded in personal interaction between artist and audience.

2020 Festival Materials

Brief Description

The 2021 Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts took place virtually  due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As many traditional events as possible we reinvented as virtual experiences on the Festival’s website.  They included live streaming music performances, a virtual Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition, Images 2021, and special projects for young artists.

For over twenty-five years, the Festival has produced First Night State College on December 31.  After a hiatus of one year, First Night returns on December 31, 2021.

In addition to First Night State College, the Festival is producing an online holiday market featuring over 100 Festival artists.  Many artists are offering free shipping and other special promotions through the end of 2021.  See 2021 Holiday Market for details.
