The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts (CPFA) seeks an experienced, dynamic leader to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. CPFA produces both its namesake five-day long summer festival and First Night State College, a family friendly arts-oriented celebration of the New Year’s holiday. As the organization’s chief administrative and artistic officer, the Executive Director works with the Board of Directors, paid staff, and volunteers to produce these two festivals as well as coordinate specific related projects during the year.
Primary responsibilities include supervising staff; developing vision and long-term goals in conjunction with Board of Directors; directing fund-raising and sponsorship activities; recruiting and managing community volunteer efforts; developing and monitoring an annual budget in excess of $700,000; and maintaining close relationships with the Borough of State College, The Pennsylvania State University, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and local, regional, and statewide arts and cultural organizations.
The ideal candidate will be an independent organizer with significant administrative and fund-raising experience, preferably with a major volunteer or community organization. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, including the use of social media. A degree in the arts and humanities, arts management or business is desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience; benefit package includes life, health, and disability insurance, 403(b) Plan, and paid time off.
