St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Poetry Reading

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will host a free poetry reading and panel discussion featuring the winners of their 2022 Poetry Contest, Caring for Creation. The poetry reading will be hosted by poet Marjorie Maddox.

Marjorie Maddox is a professor of English at Lock Haven University and assistant editor of Presence: A Journal of Catholic Poetry. She has published 13 collections of poetry—including ​Transplant, Transport, Transubstantiation; Begin with a Question; and Heart Speaks, Is Spoken For, an ekphrastic collaboration with photographer Karen Elias, the story collection What She Was Saying, and 4 children’s/YA books, including Inside Out: Poems on Writing and Reading Poems with Insider Exercises and I’m Feeling Blue, Too! ​She is co-editor with Jerry Wemple of Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania published by Penn State University Press.

 

 

 

 

The second part of the event, beginning at 2:30 p.m., will be a panel discussion moderated by the Rev. Jeffrey A. Packard, Rector of St. Andrew’s continuing the discussion on Climate Crisis. Copies of a poetry anthology containing winning and selected poems from the contest will be available for purchase.
