SUMMARY:3 Dots Songwriter Showcase
DESCRIPTION:3 Dots\, a community center in downtown State College that promotes performing artists\, launched a Songwriter Showcase series in April with monthly shows featuring some of the most compelling and original writers in the region. From this pool\, four songwriters were selected to perform their songs at the Festival in a round-robin format\, in the spirit of the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. \nThe four performers are Jason Adams\, Travis McCoy\, Joe Pillot\, and Andy Tolins. \n  \n  \nJason Adams is a State College singer-songwriter who hosts and facilitates musical events and open mics to help grow and celebrate the community that has supported him. His writing is steeped in rock\, blues\, and folk styles with his own unique lyrical touch. He made a debut tour across the US to release his first album Reflections and Imperfections in 2019 as a Breedlove guitar artist. He has three soon-to-be-released songs recorded in Nashville and a book of lyrics and art moving toward publication. \n  \n  \n  \nTravis McCoy grew up in the small town of Lanse\, Pennsylvania. His musical influences include Hank Williams\, the Carter Family\, Bob Dylan\, and Neil Young. He is a relative newcomer to the State College music scene whose original\, sometimes offbeat songs have caught the attention of open-mic crowds and fellow songwriters. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \nJoe Pillot was strongly influenced by the singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70’s. He was born in a small central Pennsylvania town and over the years has performed at arts festivals\, saloons\, wineries\, small auditoriums\, and the occasional county fair or local carnival. In his early years\, Pillot performed a few years as a vocalist and rhythm guitar player for Country Fever\, with legendary pedal steel player\, Gene Fye\, and bassist Jim Sherry. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAndy Tolins is a guitarist\, bassist and vocalist\, who also plays dobro\, mandolin and table steel. He is an accomplished songwriter\, bandleader\, and producer; winner of Billboard Magazine’s 1999 Best Unsigned Band award for “High Water” by the Triple A Blues Band. Andy has been performing full time in Central Pennsylvania and beyond for close to 30 years. His focus has been live American roots music\, fronting his own blues and bluegrass bands

SUMMARY:Molly Ryan Swingtet
DESCRIPTION:Since moving to New York City from California in 2003\, Molly Ryan has become one of the most sought-after vocalists on the New York jazz scene. She has performed at such prestigious Manhattan venues as the Café Carlyle\, The Town Hall\, The Waldorf Astoria\, Rainbow Room and Birdland. She brings her attractive\, elegant vocal style to songs originally recorded by singers such as Peggy Lee\, Helen Ward\, Martha Tilton\, and Helen Forrest. \nThe Wall Street Journal music critic Will Friedwald said of her\, “Molly swings the melody – as well as the words – without affectation of any kind. She brings a straight-ahead innocence and total believability to the music that refuses to admit that sixty or seventy years of distractions have ever happened. She sounds worldly wise beyond her years\, wonderfully gentle and lyrical.” Indeed\, Molly’s silvery voice and lush\, elegant vocal style evoke the big band singers of the 1930s and breathe new life into familiar old standards. \nMolly has appeared at jazz festivals and events throughout the U.S. and abroad including North Carolina Jazz Festival\, New York Hot Jazz Festival\, and has headlined in Paris at jazz clubs such as the famed Le Petit Journal and Autour de Midi.

SUMMARY:Across the Pond
DESCRIPTION:Across the Pond has entertained audiences of all ages at over 600 concert halls\, festivals\, weddings\, municipal summer concerts\, parties and pubs from North Carolina to Montreal.  It takes the best traditional and contemporary Celtic songs and tunes\, from the Burren\, to the Highlands\, to Appalachia\, and then have their way with them. \nAcross the Pond is Mike Morrison on guitar\, mandolin and flute; Molly Shortridge on flute\, whistles and piccolo; Charles Kadyk on fiddle and viola; and Dan Diviney on bodhran and whistles and all four adding vocals.
