SUMMARY:Chip Mock Caricatures
DESCRIPTION:Chip Mock grew up in Johnstown\, Pa.\, admiring and drawing funny likenesses from an early age\, inspired by artists John Johns\, Norman Rockwell\, Mort Drucker\, and Al Hirshfield. \nWhile studying at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh\, Chip attended workshops taught by John Johns\, where he honed his skill for drawing caricatures at festivals and events. After graduation\, Chip moved to the State College area for work in graphic design and advertising in 1981. He started drawing caricatures locally the next year. \nIn 45 years since then he has enjoyed drawing hundreds of thousands of smiling faces! Along with arts festivals throughout the state\, Chip has entertained people of all ages with his caricature skills at parties\, proms\, weddings\, company picnics\, countless Penn State events\, and on cruise ships. \nHis black-and-white style is fast and funny\, always aiming to capture the charm of someone’s personality in their likenesses. He makes the experience of being drawn fun and entertaining for his subjects and especially enjoys their laughter and the laughter of friends and family when his drawing is revealed to them. \nChip finds great satisfaction in knowing his work is still enjoyed\, hanging on walls in homes\, schools\, and offices. \nThere is a cost for this activity.

SUMMARY:CC4H Robotics
DESCRIPTION:Come out to the Arts Festival Children’s Day event and interact with students from all three divisions of CC4H Robotics. Experience the excitement of our STEM program as we demonstrate the robots built by our students. \nCentre County 4-H Robotics is a Penn State Extension 4-H STEM program that provides hands-on learning to about 130 4th-12th grade students from 29 private and public schools across Centre County. We partner adult volunteer mentors with both STEM and professional skills with enthusiastic youth to build\, program/code\, test\, and drive amazing robots in Regional and Global FIRST robotics competitions. We believe that exposing a diverse group of kids to real world engineering challenges at an early age is critical in developing our next generation of innovators and leaders. \nWe compete in three divisions of FIRST Robotics Global Competitions: FIRST Lego League (FLL) – elementary school students\, FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) – middle school students\, and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) – high school students. We have 7 FLL teams\, 6 FTC teams\, and 1 FRC team. In 2018\, our FRC won the FIRST global competition\, proudly bringing home a World Championship banner to our base of operations in State College\, PA. Considering there are 3600+ FRC teams across 100+ countries around the world\, this was truly an amazing accomplishment for a Centre County based organization!! \nThrough our newly formed nonprofit CentreSTEM\, Inc.\, we are introducing AI and Cybersecurity education\, and honing the business development skills of our business team. Students completing our programs are highly sought by universities and future STEM employers and become seeds for the next generation of Centre County business leadership. \nIf you have a passion for STEM and robotics\, you can learn more about how to join the team at this event.

SUMMARY:Community Sing-Along
DESCRIPTION:For many years State College residents came together for a weekly “community sing” each week during the summer\, under the direction of Frank Gullo\, the director of Penn State’s Glee Club\, and Hummel Fishburn\, the director of The Blue Band. This fun tradition disappeared in the 1970’s\, but we would like to bring it back for our 60th birthday. The enduring popularity of the event is proof there are lots of people who aren’t in the church choir\, or regulars at a karaoke night who enjoy singing. \nIt will be a fun evening of traditional songs\, folk melodies\, camp songs\, and perhaps a Broadway number or two.
