SUMMARY:Allegheny Ukulele Kollective
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 2010\, the Allegheny Ukulele Kollective is a ukulele enthusiast-slash-evangelist club based in Altoona and State College. Over the years\, people of all ages and abilities have jammed together on college campuses\, in cafes\, and at the local YMCA. The group meets nearly every Sunday for a jam and welcomes newcomers\, especially beginning players. In addition to weekly get togethers\, the Allegheny Ukulele Kollective also hosts the Allegheny Ukulele Soirée\, one of the largest Ukulele Festivals on the east coast. \nThe ukulele is commonly associated with music from Hawaii\, though it has enjoyed waves of popularity in other parts of America. It has been associated with jazz age crooners\, 1960s television personality Tiny Tim\, and of course\, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain\, founded in 1985. In the 21st century thousands of YouTube watchers have been awed by the artistry of ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro.

SUMMARY:CC4H Robotics
DESCRIPTION:Come out to the Arts Festival Children’s Day event and interact with students from all three divisions of CC4H Robotics. Experience the excitement of our STEM program as we demonstrate the robots built by our students. \nCentre County 4-H Robotics is a Penn State Extension 4-H STEM program that provides hands-on learning to about 120 4th-12th grade students from 20+ private and public schools across Centre County. We partner adult volunteer mentors with both STEM and professional skills with enthusiastic youth to build\, program/code\, test\, and drive amazing robots in Regional and Global FIRST robotics competitions.  We believe that exposing a diverse group of kids to real world engineering challenges at an early age is critical in developing our next generation of innovators and leaders. Simultaneously\, we develop teamwork\, leadership\, and business skills with the formation of a new business team during the 2024-25 season. \nWe compete in three divisions of FIRST Robotics Global Competitions: FIRST Lego League (FLL) – elementary school students\, FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) – middle school students\, and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) – high school students. We have 6 FLL teams\, 5 FTC teams\, and 1 FRC team. In 2018\, our FRC won the FIRST global competition\, proudly bringing home a World Championship banner to our base of operations in State College\, PA. Considering there are 3600+ FRC teams across 100+ countries around the world\, this was truly an amazing accomplishment for a Centre County based organization!! \nStudents completing the program are highly sought by universities and future STEM employers and become seeds for the next generation of Centre County business leadership. \nIf you have a passion for STEM and robotics\, you can learn more about how to join the team at this event.
