SUMMARY:Performance by Below Centre
DESCRIPTION:Instruments that play the bass parts are often the unsung heroes of the symphonic band. The public can name famous trumpeters and flutists\, but it’s pretty difficult to name a famous euphonium player\, or even spell euphonium for that matter. The gentlemen (and lady) of Below Centre might just change that\, as they play under the musical radar for the Festival audience. \nTo access this live event on Facebook Live\, . SUMMARY:Performance by Callanish
DESCRIPTION:Callanish\, a Celtic band based in central Pennsylvania\, plays Irish and Scottish music in the traditional style. Its repertoire includes lively jigs and reels\, haunting airs\, and rollicking songs from Ireland\, Scotland\, and elsewhere in the British Isles. The band regularly plays at festivals and concert series\, as well as at weddings and parties. \nThe four women of Callanish are Patty Lambert\, Betsy Gamble\, Louisa Smith\, and Holly Foy.  Patty Lambert plays wooden flute\, whistle\, and concertina. Formerly on the faculty of the Music Academy\, she now teaches privately in her home. Betsy Gamble plays fiddle\, viola\, and pipes and is a piper in the Nittany Highland Pipe and Drum Band. Lead singer Louisa Smith is a 2009 graduate of the Penn State School of Theatre and a classically trained vocalist. She also plays bodhran\, spoons\, and other percussion. Holly Foy plays guitar\, bouzouki\, and banjo and in her spare time coordinates the Festival’s street painting presentation. \nThe band has performed at First Night State College\, the Centre County Grange Fair\, Laurelfest\, and the Williamsport Community Arts Center\, where the band opened for Women of Ireland. The band’s latest CD is The Hare’s Paw. \nTo access this live event on Facebook Live\, . You will need a Facebook account to watch on Facebook Live. \nTo access this live event on YouTube Live\, .
