Tim Vitullo
July 14, 2018 @ 9:30 pm - 11:00 pm
If there is such a thing as a run of the mill Festival performer, Tim Vitullo isn’t it.
In 2012 his first EP, This is the Thing. The tracks were all original compositions, exploring the harmonic & melodic characteristics of bebop, Brazilian bossa nova, and modal jazz. The EP doubled as his undergraduate thesis, enabling him to graduate with honors in music from Penn State…where he received a second bachelor’s degree…in Civil and Environmental Engineering that same year.
An accomplished singer, guitarist, & songwriter, Vitullo decided to return home to both Pittsburgh & his blues influences to record Josephine & Assorted Train Songs, his debut studio LP. That album borrows as much from Vitullo’s jazz, jam band, & country influences as it does the American blues tradition. Since its release, Tim has been performing regularly with his group, the Tim Vitullo Band in the northeast & Midwest.
