Support the Festival on Giving Tuesday
This is the time of year when days of the week have alternate names. Thursday, November 26 is Thanksgiving. It’s followed by Black Friday. Then there’s a weekend devoted to football, recovering from Thanksgiving and Black Friday, and more football. After that, it’s time for Cyber Monday, though for a guy reared in Central Pennsylvania, that day will always be The First Day of Deer Season. The next day is Giving Tuesday, or to be totally au courant about it, #GivingTuesday.
Are you still with me?
Giving Tuesday is part of a philanthropic movement that spans the globe. In fact, I’ve gotten appeals from charities as varied (and worthy) as Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, Las Vegas, Nevada’s Neon Museum, and Cedars-Sinai Hospital, the enormous Los Angeles Medical Center. I’m sure your email box is as full as mine is with notes from great causes.
With a modest amount of typing and a few mouse clicks on Giving Tuesday you can do your part to support the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and First Night State College. Your donations help us to produce Central Pennsylvania’s premiere arts festivals and improve the quality of life here in Central Pennsylvania.
How can you be a part of it? Visit our website and participate:
- Make a gift. With your help, we’ll continue to make downtown State College and Penn State’s University Park campus come alive with incredible art, fabulous and diverse entertainment and delicious food. We do this not just in July, but also in December, with First Night State College.
- Help us get the word out on social media. Tell your friends on Facebook and Twitter that you’re supporting the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts on #GivingTuesday. We’re on Facebook as Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts (or, First Night State College if you prefer) and Twitter as @CPArtsFestival. Don’t forget the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
- Contact our office about volunteering! It takes lots of volunteers to produce both the Arts Festival and First Night State College. You could be one of them!
- Share your Festival story and photos. Next summer will mark the 50th Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. We’re interested in your stories and old photos! If you have something you think we’d be interested in, let us know.
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to kick off the season of giving in a meaningful way….and to be part of a collective show of goodwill and philanthropy.
Our campaign runs from Tuesday, December 1 through the end of the month, and we need your help to make it a success. Please join with the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and First Night State College by sharing your time, resources or your story on Giving Tuesday.
